If you haven't played for a few years, then the biggest recent rule change has been the introduction of the self-pass rule for free hits. This has changed the game, increasing the speed of the match and giving more benefit to the attacking side. For a good explanation of the Self Pass rules, check out this clip on You Tube. Ahead of the 2012/13 season, England Hockey may make further interpretations of the rules or clarify some of the finer points. You can therefore find out much more about the rules of hockey at the official England Hockey site.
