Junior Hockey PDF Print E-mail

The junior section at Leeds HC provides hockey training and development for boys and girls between 6 to 18 years of age.  We are an England Hockey accredited club and were awarded full ClubsFirst status in 2006 - which means we provide safe, effective, child-friendly hockey for young players – somewhere to have fun, meet new friends and be active!

Get involved!

Why not try this fast moving Olympic sport with one of Leeds’ top sports clubs!  We’ll coach all the skills needed to play the game, so all you need to do is come along to a training session with suitable sports kit for the conditions, plus gum shield and shin pads.  Don't worry - we'll provide the sticks!

Child Protection

Leeds HC has a responsibility to safeguard the safety and welfare of its members. Our club has adopted England Hockey's Child Protection Policy and will follow its recommended procedures when dealing with any expression of concern.  Child Protection plays an important part within our ClubsFirst accreditation and is an issue that all members in both the Junior and Senior sections should be aware of.

Lynn Harkins is our club's designated Welfare Officer and can provide you with any further details that you may find of help.  You can contact Lynn by email ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) or by phone on 0113 255 0210.

Junior Training and Matches

Our junior hockey is based at two locations - either on the pitches at our Leeds University Weetwood base, or at the nearby Horsforth High School.  Our squad of experienced England Hockey qualified junior coaches run popular weekly training sessions throughout the season and our teams compete in the Yorkshire Youth Hockey League and in national knockout competitions.  We have separate teams for boys and girls at U10, U12, U14, U16 and U18 level - so everyone can get involved!

Hockey is primarily a winter sport and junior training sessions start in September 2010.
