Please read all of the below from Simon Batty, Chair of Leeds Hockey Club

Dear Members,

We have now finalised the senior training times for the upcoming season and we are ready to begin these week commencing 21 September 2020. As of this week the ‘Return to Hockey’ sessions will cease.

Due to availability of pitches we have worked hard behind the scenes to do our best to ensure all teams are catered for. Please be aware that a reduction in facility availability and COVID restrictions has made putting this together a challenge.

I ask that all members remain flexible for the season to enable us to overcome any challenges that are ahead. All senior sessions will have a maximum capacity of 40 people. This means 20 on one half and 20 on the other. Registers will be made available for the sessions. We expect sessions to be oversubscribed in the September and October. We will manage this as best we can, please be respectful of this and work with the people controlling the registers in these challenging times.

No club Member is allowed to attend a session if their name is not on the register.

We will be working with your Captains in the next few days to get registers in place. Please bear with us whilst we clarify with the Captains the process and requirements for this.

The registers are in place for three reasons:

  1. To ensure we manage sessions and they are safe for club members.
  2. For COVID register submissions that our COVID officer (Phil Price – [email protected]) has to send to England Hockey.
  3. It is part of the requirements expected of us by Sports Park Weetwood which allows us to use the pitches.

If any of these points are compromised we put our activities at Sport Park Weetwood at risk. Therefore please adhere to these instructions to ensure a successful return to full time training with the club.

The next piece of information we need to communicate with you will be the COVID protocols for training. These will be slightly different to what some members have experienced so far. This is because we are increasing our footfall at the facility and increasing pitch transitions.  We are putting further work into these plans, confirming them with Sports Park Weetwood and will communicate these on Monday 21 September.

Please ensure that you know what is expected of you before you turn up to Sport Park Weetwood.

Please keep an eye out for the announcement in due course.

I would like to remind every club member of their responsibilities to act in line with the England Hockey Participation Agreement they have signed. Alongside this respect your fellow members and socially distance at the appropriate times when at Sports Park Weetwood.

For our senior members, your training sessions can be found at the bottom of this page. For our junior members, at present the current training activities remain the same until further notice.

Thank You

Simon Batty
