Change of Performance Coaching Staff

May 18, 2020

After six years in charge of the Men's 1XI at Leeds Hockey Club, Lewis Butcher (left)  has decided to put down his coaching clipboard and step back from coaching at LHC to allow for more time with his family and his new business venture, Lewis Butcher Sport.

LHC would like to thank Lewis for his dedication and effort over his tenure at Leeds during which he oversaw the Men's 1XI rise up into the National Leagues. We look forward to seeing him on the side lines cheering the club on, and if he ever fancies picking up his stick again the Men's 8XI can put him to good use!

Following a recruitment process we are delighted to announce that Carl Smith (right), former Men's 1XI captain, will take over as Men's 1XI Head Coach.

Carl is a Level 3 UKCC Hockey coach and has been Head of Hockey at the University of Leeds for the last six years in addition to having been a Futures Cup Assistant Coach and a Junior Regional Performance Centre (JRPC) coach.

Carl has played hockey in English National Premier League and Euro Hockey League for both Beeston and Loughborough before coming to Leeds.
