Dear Parent,
I hope this email finds you well. I wanted to formerly introduce myself and answer a few FAQs before the 22/23 season kicks off again!!
INTRODUCTION
Some of you already know me from various other environments but I will be taking on the role of Leeds Hockey Club Head of Girls Hockey.
I currently coach the Leeds Men’s 2XI, work at St Peters School, York & coach at the Yorkshire Talent Academy. I won’t physically be on pitch every week but I am confident we have got in place a fantastic team to run engaging sessions across the girls side.
Should you have any wider queries please do feel free to drop me an email. I will be present at the first couple of sessions or at least the first session all being well – should you have any questions!
GAME DATES
U18/U16/U14 girls should have already had communication from their lead coaches with the dates for games.
U12 and U10 girls your match days are below (locations TBC, more than likely Wakefield for most games):

COACHING TEAM
I am pleased to announce the coaching team for the 22/23 season – there may be a few additions or odd cover sessions but I am pleased to confirm the following:
- U10 Girls – Jess Ferguson & Gabby Greenwood
- U12 Girls – Chloe Cundick & Aimee Parke
- U14 Girls – Rob Staines (LEAD), Ellie Boslover, Alex Gerrard Jones, & Stuart White.
- U16 Girls – David Brereton (LEAD), Anna Pateman, Lucy Horsfield (bi-weekly).
- U18 Girls – Lucy Horsfield
*As mentioned I am in conversations to possibly sort an additional U12 girls coach as well as an U16 girls coach.
TRAINING TIMES
The girls training resumes on THURSDAY 8TH SEPTEMBER:
Top pitch – U10 & U12 girls 5:30-7pm
Bottom pitch – U14 girls 5:45 – 7:15pm * NOTE TIME CHANGE…
Bottom pitch – U16 girls – 7:15-8:45pm * NOTE TIME CHANGE…
Our last training session will be Thursday 15th December (unless your coaching team states otherwise).
At the moment we are not in a position to put Saturday sessions on – once the senior sides have confirmed their match slots, potentially we can look to do this, however getting Thursdays up and running smoothly an ensure a strong coaching team for this is and has been the priority over summer.
MEMBERSHIP FEES
I want to confirm the membership fees & match fees for the season too, the club have increased membership fees to £160.00 for a junior member for the season.
The decision to increase fees did not come lightly and was based on the following:
- Rising fuel costs / pitch hire costs
- Increased and expansion of the coaching team, meaning lower player to coach ratios and higher quality training.
- Dedicated coach on match days
- Increase in water costs, bearing in mind the girls get to train on water based state of the art pitches.
- Increased opportunity to play up to 12/14 full matches.
The club have also introduced a £5 match fee per game your child plays in. This will be added on to your ClubBuzz account – https://www.leedshockey.co.uk/my-financial-activity/
Obviously, we want to remain accessible to all players – if anyone needs to get in touch with the club treasurer Mike Pounder ([email protected]) to discuss an individual package due to circumstances etc to ensure they do not miss out on hockey due to financial reasons, please do get in touch.
